K-9 Passes Away In Harford County, Sheriff Says

An 8-year-old K-9 officer who worked for the Harford County Sheriff's Office has passed away, officials said.

"A friendly dog, Jinx was rarely seen without a toy a looking for someone to play fetch with him!" the Harford County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.. "He would also lovingly give anyone’s legs a heavy lean looking for you to pet him."

BEL AIR, MD — A retired K-9 officer from the Harford County Sheriff's Office has passed away.

Jinx, 8, was known as a "friendly dog" who loved toys and gave a "heavy lean looking for you to pet him," according to the sheriff's office.

During his time working with handler Cpl. Marty Hoppa from 2013 to 2019, officials said Jinx assisted in more than 30 criminal arrests and numerous efforts to seize illegal drugs and currency.

"Jinx was always popular with the crowds at the K9 demonstrations and attained quite a fan club of community members who had met and fell in love with him!" the sheriff's office reported.
