Kitten Tests Positive For Rabies: Harford County Health Department

Anyone who may have come into contact with the kitten or whose pet came into contact is asked to call the county health department.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Anyone who may have come into contact with a black and white kitten or whose pet may have had contact with this kitten between July 1 and July 10 in the Dublin area is asked to call the Harford County Health Department.

The kitten tested positive for rabies July 12. It was found in the 1600 block of Whiteford Road.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the first symptoms of rabies may be similar to the flu, including weakness or discomfort, fever or headache. There also may be discomfort, prickling or an itching sensation at the site of the bite. These symptoms may last for days before progressing.
