Lightning Hit Abingdon Home, Fire Officials Say

Firefighters said a house in Abingdon was struck by lightning during Wednesday night's storms in Harford County.

ABINGDON, MD — Authorities said a house in Abingdon was struck by lightning Wednesday night. Harford County was under a severe thunderstorm warning until about 7:45 p.m. calling for strong winds and possibly hail.

Just before 8 p.m., the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported it was at the scene of a house hit by lightning in the 2800 block of White Rose Court.

While there was no fire at the home, Joppa-Magnolia reported the electricity had gone out. Officials said that BGE had been notified.
