Lightning Strike in Abingdon Reported: Officials

First responders were called to residence where lightning may have struck Saturday night.

ABINGDON, MD – After lightning possibly struck a residence in Abingdon, first responders were en route to the scene Saturday evening, officials said.

At 10:49 p.m., the Abingdon Fire Company was responding to the 300 block of Foreland Garth, where a possible lightning strike was reported, according to Jenn Chenworth, spokeswoman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

A few minutes earlier, Chenworth reported that there were several calls for wires down in the Fallston and Jarrettsville areas.

A high wind warning was in effect for Harford County and much of the state until noon on Sunday, with winds greater than 40 mph expected and the potential for downed trees and power lines.
