Live Fire Training In Edgewood Underway

A house is on fire in Harford County as firefighters conduct a live fire training exercise on Saturday, June 2.

EDGEWOOD, MD — Those around Edgewood may notice smoke on Saturday morning. That's because the Abingdon Fire Company is conducting a live fire training near Prince of Peace Church.

While smoke may be heavy at times, firefighters say they are containing the blaze to the training area.

Firefighters regularly hone their skills at training facilities through simulated fires, but conducting training in acquired structures exposes them to types of buildings they may find in Harford County to get a sense of how construction and layout affect search and rescue, smoke and fire travel and water application.
