6.5-Mile Delay Reported After I-95 Crash Near Joppa
While lanes on I-95 have reopened near MD 152 after a Friday afternoon crash, officials say the delays are miles long.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — After a medevac landed on Interstate 95 near Joppa Friday afternoon, the highway was temporarily shut down. Miles of delays ensued on I-95 south.
Delays were 6.5 miles long, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported after 5:15 p.m.
The multi-vehicle crash that prompted the medevac response happened in the area of I-95 at MD 152 shortly before 3 p.m.

One person was seriously injured in the collision, according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, which responded to the crash. The victim was taken by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, the fire company reported.
Both north and southbound traffic on I-95 was stopped during the medevac response from about 3:20 p.m. to 3:40 p.m.

As of 3:40 p.m., I-95 north was clear.
Those headed toward Baltimore County still have major delays. The Maryland Transportation Authority reported that delays on I-95 south were about 6.5 miles due to the lane closures at 4:15 p.m., and it said an hour later that delays had not subsided and were still 6.5 miles long.
Two lanes remain closed on I-95 south in the area of MD 152, at mile marker 73.3. Traffic was getting by in the two left lanes, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.
As of 4 p.m., traffic was stacked up on I-95 south beyond the exit for MD 24.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD (Initial Report) — A crash on Interstate 95 in Harford County is causing major backups on Friday afternoon heading into rush hour. Southbound traffic is impacted in the Joppa area.
The collision occurred on I-95 south near the exit for MD 152/Mountain Road, according to state transportation officials.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision, which authorities said happened shortly before 3 p.m.
As of 3:15 p.m., two lanes were closed on I-95 south past Mountain Road. Traffic was getting by on the left. On the other hand, all lanes on I-95 north were clear.
