Malfunction At Joppa Pet Care Business Prompts Emergency Response
All animals and staff are OK, according to Best Friends Fur Ever.

JOPPA, MD — Firefighters were called to a pet care facility in Joppa Monday morning after an unusual odor was detected, according to officials. According to the business, it was caused by an equipment malfunction.
The call from Best Friends Fur Ever came around 9:30 a.m., according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, which responded to the 1000 block of Philadelphia Road along with the Harford County hazmat team.
During the investigation, Best Friends Fur Ever staff and guests stayed outside.

Crews looked for a potential Freon leak from an air conditioner, and within an hour, authorities said they cleared the scene.
The issue had come from an HVAC malfunction, according to Best Friends Fur Ever, and the business was open and operating normally after 10:30 a.m.

No dogs were injured, nor were any people, Joppa-Magnolia reported. By 10:30 a.m., officials said all first responders had left.
