Man Arrested In Brother's Shooting At Abingdon Home

ABINGDON, MD — The brother of a 65-year-old Abingdon man has been arrested and charged in the shooting of his sibling. The victim remains in critical condition, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the 4000 block of Sharilynn Drive around 1 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a domestic-related shooting. Deputies found a 65-year-old man with a gunshot wound on his upper body. Deputies started first aid to control bleeding while other officers secured the crime scene and canvased the area for evidence and witnesses, the sheriff's office stated.

The victim was flown by the Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a local trauma center where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Detectives determined that the two brothers had argued and the victim’s brother, Joseph S. Ray, 66, was taken into custody at the scene without incident. He was taken to the Harford County Detention Center and charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder and possession of a regulated firearm, ammunition by a prohibited person and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.
