Man in Darlington Fatally Shot Showing Gun to Friend: Sheriff

The Harford County Sheriff's Office is investigating Saturday afternoon shooting.

A man died in Darlington Saturday afternoon as the result of an accidental shooting, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Before 1 p.m., deputies responded to the 3700 block of Berkley Road, where a man was lying in a garage with a gunshot wound to the torso, according to the report.

Ronald Metzger, 33, had been showing a shotgun to his friend when the weapon accidentally discharged, the report stated.

Metzger was taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where he was declared dead, according to officials.

His body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy, and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
