Man Displaced by Edgewood Townhouse Blaze: Fire Marshal
Two pets perished in a house fire on Tuesday in Harford County, officials said.
EDGEWOOD, MD — Two cats died and a resident was displaced by a townhouse fire Tuesday afternoon in Edgewood, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
While doing work in the yard, the owner discovered his house in the 600 block of Harr Park Court was on fire and notified authorities.
At 1:49 p.m., the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded to the fire, which officials said began in the living room of the end-of-group townhouse.

Crews from Abingdon, Aberdeen Proving Ground and Bel Air fought the blaze along with Joppa-Magnolia, and within approximately 20 minutes, the fire was under control.
In all, the fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, according to the fire marshal; there was $80,000 in structural damage, with $20,000 worth of items inside lost as well.

Officials said family members were assisting the homeowner, who was displaced and lost two cats in the fire.
The cause was deemed accidental, attributed to an electrical failure.
