21-Year-Old Seriously Injured After Jumping On Car's Hood To Stop Carjacking: Police
A 21-year-old man suffered severe head trauma after he tried to stop an armed carjacking by jumping on the vehicle's hood, police say.
ABERDEEN, MD — A man who fell from a moving car appeared to be a victim of an armed carjacking, police say. The 21-year-old man suffered severe head trauma in the incident.
The Aberdeen police officers were called to the 700 block of West Bel Air Avenue for a report of an armed carjacking and a man falling from the moving vehicle. The incident happened around 4:12 p.m. Friday, according to the police department.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim lying in the middle of the road with severe head trauma. A second victim was found uninjured. Police learned that both of the victims had arrived at a hotel in the area to pick up a friend. After they parked the vehicle, two strangers climbed into the back seat of their car. One pulled out a gun and told them to drive, police said.

The two friends drove off and when the car stopped at a stop sign, both victims jumped out. One took off running but the other jumped onto the hood of the car in an attempt to stop the carjacking. But a suspect got behind the wheel and drove off, leaving the victim clinging to the hood. The suspect eventually threw the victim off the vehicle and kept driving, witnesses told police.
The injured victim was taken to Bayview Medical Center where he is listed in serious but stable condition. Later on, detectives found the stolen car abandoned on Krouse Court. A K-9 tracking dog was brought in to assist the investigation; however, they couldn't find the suspects.
