Bearded Man Stages Fender Bender to Rob Driver: Police

Maryland State Police officials say they are trying to find the driver of a gray Mazda who is suspected of staging a fender bender to rob another driver.

At 5 p.m. on Monday, a Bel Air man was headed south on Harford Road when he was stopped in traffic and a gray Mazda hit him from behind before the MD 152 intersection, police reported.

When the 42-year-old Bel Air man got out of his vehicle to exchange information on the shoulder of Harford Road, police say the Mazda driver pulled out a folding knife and demanded the Bel Air man’s wallet. He handed over the wallet and the suspect took off in the gray Mazda, according to police.

The suspect is described as a white man between 28 and 32 years old with a crew cut and reddish beard. Police said he did not have a mustache and was driving a gray Mazda with unknown registration.
