MARYLAND DEFENSE FORCE BAND TO PERFORM AT SHAMROCK PARK IN BEL AIR

Patriotic and International Music Awaits Listeners as the MDDF Band Celebrates the Tradition of Summer Band Concerts in the Park

The Maryland Defense Force Band will present a concert of patriotic and international music on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Humbart Amphitheater of Shamrock Park, 39 North Hickory Ave., Bel Air, MD. This concert is free and open to the public.

Music honoring America’s heritage will include Robert Russell Bennett’s Suite of Old American Dances, Edwin Franco Goldman’s march On the Mall and a Tribute to Judy Garland. In addition, the musicians of the MDDF Band will pay homage to their counterparts in the Swedish Home Guard Band of Västmanland with a number of traditional and patriotic Swedish pieces of music.

Widely known as “Maryland’s Musical Ambassadors,” the Maryland Defense Force Band is a ceremonial unit of the Maryland Defense Force (MDDF). The MDDF Band provides musical support to the Maryland Military Department and provides ceremonial support to the State of Maryland. The Maryland Defense Force is the state’s uniformed volunteer military unit providing professional and technical assistance to the Maryland Military Department.
