MD Snow Totals, Forecast: Over 20 Inches Reported

How much snow has fallen so far? See the town-by-town snow totals for Maryland.

MARYLAND — A second round of winter weather overnight will lead to "treacherous conditions" through Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.

After overnight snow and sleet, road conditions are slick in some areas.

"Delay your commute if you can," the State Highway Administration advised Tuesday morning. "If you must drive, remember to drive SLOWLY. Surfaces that look wet may be icy."

Up to 2 inches of additional snowfall are expected in central Maryland Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Frederick County has seen the highest snowfall totals so far with measurements of 20.5 inches and 19 inches in Sabilasville reported after 5 p.m. Monday.

Here are unofficial snow totals submitted to the National Weather Service as of about 3 a.m. Tuesday:

Due to possibly hazardous travel conditions, the National Weather Service has posted alerts for much of the state through 1 p.m. Tuesday.

People should watch their first few steps outside on driveways, stairs and sidewalks due to icy and slippery conditions. Drivers should also anticipate that slippery roads may impact the morning commute.

Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's counties as well as Baltimore City are under a winter weather advisory until 1 p.m. Tuesday calling for snow that may result in up to 2 inches of additional snow accumulation.

Maryland State Police said troopers handled the following from 8 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Tuesday:

  • 505 crashes
  • 245 disabled/unattended vehicles
  • 1,799 calls for service

"Due to continuing weather event ... avoid travel or use extra caution if driving," police advised Monday night.
