Deputy Recovering After Fallston Crash: Sheriff

Authorities said multiple crashes occurred on US 1 Thursday evening in Harford County, including one where a detective's vehicle was struck.

FALLSTON, MD (UPDATE: 10 a.m.) — A Harford County deputy whose vehicle was hit Thursday night while he was responding to a crash has minimal injuries, officials said.

Detective Michael Wilsynski was released from shock trauma and is recovering at home, the Harford County Sheriff's Office reported Friday morning.

Wilsynski had been airlifted to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center after his driver's side door was hit by another driver at the scene of a serious crash on US 1 in Fallston at 5:24 p.m., officials reported.

He was flown to shock trauma "due to the mechanism of injury" and was conscious and alert on the way there, according to authorities.

There were several crashes on the US 1 corridor in Fallston Thursday night.

First responders were handling three crashes in the area as of 6 p.m., according to Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association spokesman Rich Gardiner.

The collisions were described as serious and involving injury, Gardiner said.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area of US 1/Belair Road between Reckord Road and Milton Avenue.
