Missing Edgewood Teen Found Deceased In Havre de Grace
The 15-year-old girl who had been reported missing from Harford County was killed by asphyxiation, police reported.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD - A teen from Edgewood who was reported missing has been identified as the girl found deceased in Havre de Grace this week, police said, and a homicide investigation is underway.
Maleigha Solonka, 15, was found near a wooded area in the 400 block of Webb Lane, where the Havre de Grace Police Department was dispatched Wednesday for a report of a body in the woods.
Police said her death was caused by asphyxiation.

She was last seen on Wednesday, Aug. 9, according to ABC 2 News, which reported she disappeared from Windsor Valley in Edgewood. Relatives told the TV station they think her death was an act of domestic violence.

Solonka's grandmother said in an interview with WBAL that the teen had stayed with her a couple of weeks ago because "she feared that someone was going to hurt her."
The day she went missing, she was planning to get her nails done with her mother, her uncle told WBAL. Her aunt and uncle had legal custody of Solonka, according to the TV station.
Police have not released information about a possible suspect. Anyone with information about Solonka's death is asked to contact the Havre de Grace Police Department at 410-939-2121.
There is a GoFundMe campaign set up to raise money for Solonka's funeral.
