Medevac Called To Crash On Route 543 At Route 40: Officials

Eastbound Route 40 was closed for a crash that the Abingdon Fire Company said involved a motorcycle and one other vehicle.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Three people were hospitalized as the result of a midday crash on MD 543 at US 40, according to officials. One of the crash victims was airlifted by Maryland State Police medevac.

At 12:24 p.m., the Abingdon Fire Company, Aberdeen medics and Joppa-Magnolia medics were dispatched to the collision, which involved a motorcycle and one other vehicle, Abingdon officials reported.

Joppa-Magnolia took two people by ambulance to a local hospital, while one person was taken by helicopter to a regional trauma center, according to the Abingdon Fire Company.

As of 1:57 p.m., Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS personnel said that it was not known how long the closure would last.
