FOREST HILL, MD — A Greek restaurant in Forest Hill is authorized to sell alcohol, after the Harford County Liquor Control Board granted it a liquor license.

Apostolos and George Karoutsos were given a Class B Café license to sell beer and wine at Mr. Souvlaki, their restaurant in Forest Hill. The license also allows the business to sell liquor for consumption at the eatery on Rock Spring Road and to sell beer and wine customers can take out.

The Karoutsos brothers told the commissioners at Wednesday's meeting in Bel Air that their past experience included having a stall in the Mt. Vernon Marketplace in Baltimore, where they sold beer, wine and ouzo. They also have a Mr. Souvlaki food truck.

Seating capacity will be 24 and the restaurant is 1,600 square feet, the Karoutsos brothers told the Harford County liquor board. Outdoor seating is available.

No more than 10 percent of the square footage may be dedicated to off-sale beer and wine, according to code.

The restaurant owners said a 6-by-3-foot refrigerator in the dining room near the cash register would house the beer and wine that people can buy to take home.

It is the fifth café license in Harford County, according to Judi Powell, special projects coordinator for the Harford County Liquor Control Board.

Mr. Souvlaki is at 1521A Rock Spring Road in Forest Hill.
