National Merit Scholar Named In Harford Co.

One Harford County student has received a $2,500 scholarship from the second round of the National Merit Scholarship program.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A second round of National Merit Scholars has been announced with winners each earning $2,500 scholarships.

The 2,500 Merit Scholar designees were chosen from among 15,000 finalists.

Last month, approximately 700 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship winners were named. In June and July, an estimated 3,500 winners will be announced. At year's end upwards of 6,700 scholarship winners will have earned approximately $24 million in scholarships.

One winner was chosen from Harford County:

  • Ishleen Bassi, Bel Air, Aberdeen High School, probable career field - psychiatry, National Merit $2,500 scholarship underwritten by ED's Connect Community Fund
