Overturned Tractor-Trailer, Multiple Vehicles Crash on I-95

Collisions near Abingdon on I-95 were snarling traffic, officials said.

Two crashes were causing delays for drivers headed south on Interstate 95 near Abingdon Tuesday morning.

After 11 a.m., there was a 2-mile backup on I-95 due to two crashes between mile markers 77 and 79, according to a report from the Harford County Office of Emergency Management.

Southbound traffic on I-95 was “extremely slow” in the area of the MD Route 24 interchange due to a multiple-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer, Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association spokesman Rich Gardiner said at approximately 10:45 a.m.

According to Gardiner, there was at least one injury associated with the crash.

An empty tanker had overturned on I-95 south at the exit for MD Route 24, the Maryland Transportation Authority (CHART) reported.

By 11:10 a.m., the crash at the Route 24 exit had cleared and another was reported nearby.

A two-vehicle crash occurred on I-95 south just before the Route 24 exit, which CHART said was reported at approximately 10:43 a.m.

The left lane and left shoulder were prior to the Route 24 exit as of 11:10 a.m.,, according to CHART.
