Package Thief Strikes In Joppa: Sheriff
Do you recognize this person? Harford County officials allege the suspect stole three packages in a 30-minute period in Joppa this week.
JOPPA, MD — A "porch pirate" is suspected in at least three package thefts in a 30-minute period in Joppa, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. Authorities released video showing the thief, asking for assistance identifying the suspect.
The package thefts occurred between 1:30 and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30.
"One of these packages was stolen within 20 minutes of delivery!"the Harford County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The thefts happened in the following areas, officials reported:
- 1000 block of Emmerick Drive
- 500 block of Terrapin Terrace
- 400 block of Hardin Drive
Anyone with information or who thinks they may be a victim of package theft is asked to call Detective First Class Isgro at 410-612-1717.

"We'd also like to remind you, if you have a package you know is being delivered, make sure you have someone home to get it off your porch, or have it delivered somewhere secure," officials said.
Here are tips for protecting packages:
- Try to be home when packages are scheduled to arrive.
- Ask a trusted neighbor or friend to take any packages inside if they arrive before you.
- Request the delivery person put the package somewhere it can't be seen from the sidewalk.
- Have the package delivered to your workplace.
