Past Abingdon Assistant Fire Chief Passes Away
Former Assistant Chief William Frank died Monday, according to two fire companies he served.

A past assistant fire chief who has served the community for nearly 20 years died Monday, according to the Abingdon and Joppa-Magnolia fire companies.
William “Bill” Frank died Monday, Oct. 12, while off-duty, according to a statement from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.
To help his family with cremation expenses, the fire company said members started a GoFundMe account.

Before joining the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, Frank rose through the ranks at the Abingdon Fire Company, where he was past assistant chief.

“His death was sudden and unexpected,” the Abingdon Fire Company said in a statement. “Please keep his family and friends in your prayers during this most difficult time.”
