Patterson Mill Football Player Isaac Pfarr Dies at 17

The Huskies and the greater Bel Air community mourn the loss of high school athlete described as a 'gentle giant.'

BEL AIR, MD — Patterson Mill High School is mourning the loss of one of its own, as Isaac Thomas Pfarr died over the weekend unexpectedly. The 17-year-old reportedly died at home on Sunday.

The cause and manner of death remained under investigation on Monday, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Pfarr touched the lives of many through his involvement in the greater Bel Air community. He played football for the Huskies as an offensive and defensive lineman, and he was a member of the Bel Air Police Department's Explorer Post 9010.

"Isaac was a kind, good hearted, caring person who one would consider to be a 'gentle giant,'" according to the GoFundMe page set up for those who would like to contribute donations for Pfarr's funeral expenses.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, 610 West MacPhail Road, Bel Air, MD 21014, on Friday, Oct. 21, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at the Angel Hill Cemetery in Havre de Grace.

After learning of the loss, Patterson Mill students came together to honor the memory of their friend and classmate. A vigil was held on Sunday night in the student lot at Patterson Mill High School. And on Monday, the yearbook club was selling brownies after school to raise money to go toward Pfarr's funeral.

Isaac Thomas Pfarr was the beloved son of Robert and Sarah (Brill) Pfarr; beloved brother of Aaron and Abigail Pfarr; dear grandson of Elsie and Bill Pfarr; Maryana Ellis, Timothy Brill, Rick Ellis and Alma and Dick Schwanke. His is also survived by his beloved dog Harley.
