22-Year-Old Woman Killed On Route 24 Monday Morning: Police

Police said a woman died Monday morning trying to cross a road in Harford County.

EDGEWOOD, MD — Police said a pedestrian was killed Monday morning in a crash in Harford County. The crash occurred on Edgewood Road at Emmorton Road/MD 24.

Jaydirah Paige Ray, 22, of Port Deposit, was hit by a passing vehicle while trying to cross from the center median on Emmorton Road, according to police.

The crash occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7.

After she was hit the first time, police said a second vehicle on Edgewood Road hit Ray as she laid in the road.

Ray was pronounced deceased at the scene, and both vehicles stayed at the crash site, officials reported.

No one else was injured in the crash, which police said did not involve drugs or alcohol.

Edgewood Road was closed in both directions as a result of the collision.

By 8:50 a.m., WBAL reported Edgewood Road had reopened between US 40 and MD 24.

Maryland State Police was investigating the crash.
