Reported Shooting In Bel Air Put School On Alert
There was a modified lockdown before Fountain Green Elementary School began Thursday, a spokesperson for the school system said.
BEL AIR, MD — A report of a shooting in Bel Air drew law enforcement officials to a neighborhood off South Fountain Green Road and put one school on alert Thursday morning, according to authorities.
At 7:35 a.m., the Harford County Sheriff's Office received a call from someone in the 700 block of Flintlock Drive who said her boyfriend shot her.
"We had reports of someone shot in the area," Harford County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kyle Andersen said. "However, when we arrived we found no victims. Deputies cleared a residence to ensure there were no victims."

During the investigation, the Harford County Sheriff's Office recommended Fountain Green Elementary School go into a modified lockdown because of police activity in the neighboring community, according to Harford County Public Schools spokeswoman Jillian Lader.
"It was actually a modified lockdown that occurred before school began; we sent a message in case parents/guardians heard about it in the community and assumed, rightfully so, that it was during the school day," Lader said. She added the measure was taken out of an abundance of caution.
