Two police officers who live in Harford County recently snagged a five-figure win from the Maryland Lottery. They plan to use their windfall to improve their homes in Forest Hill and Bel Air, respectively.

The 34 and 37-year-old officers were at a Parkville 7-Eleven recently when they bought three Gold Rush X100 scratchoff tickets after seeing another customer playing the game and losing, according to Maryland Lottery officials. Each ticket costs $20.

The officers were two for three — one of their tickets netted them a $100 prize, while another showed they had won $50,000.
