Pool Dome Collapses Under Weight Of Snow, Ice

BEL AIR, MD — Snow and ice from the recent winter storm weighed down the pool dome at Bel Air Coppermine Athletic Club, causing the structure to collapse.

The pool deck has been closed indefinitely but the facility will be open for its usual hours, the club posted online.

"We are incredibly grateful that no staff or members were injured. The safety of everyone involved remains our top priority, and we are currently assessing the situation and taking the appropriate next steps. The pool will be closed until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," the facility posted on Facebook.

Coppermine Athletic Clubs is a Maryland-based network of 19+ facilities providing year-round sports, fitness and wellness programs for all ages. They offer youth sports, competitive club teams (lacrosse, soccer, gymnastics), adult fitness and aquatic programs.
