Power Outages Close One School, Office In Harford County: HCPS
Many buses are delayed, canceled or rerouted due to storm damage in Harford County. One school and office are closed on Thursday, May 30.
BEL AIR, MD — Due to power outages, there are two closures in Harford County Public Schools on Thursday, May 30. One school is closed, and so is the central office. Both also lack phone service. Due to storm damage, many buses are also either rerouted or canceled.
More than 1,400 BGE customers are without power in Harford County as of 8:20 a.m. Thursday, after a storm with strong winds whipped through the region Wednesday evening.
Homestead/Wakefield Elementary School is closed due to a power outage on Thursday, May 30. First shift custodians are to report on time, according to Harford County Public Schools. Before school Y-daycare students will be contacted directly by the YMCA, officials said.

The central office for Harford County Public Schools is closed on Thursday, May 30. Power is out at the A.A. Roberty Building at 102 South Hickory Avenue, according to a statement from Harford County Public Schools. Those who had meetings at the central office slated for Thursday should plan to reschedule for a later date.

The following road closures will delay bus service as buses re-route:
- Asbury Road from Route 22 to Edwards Lane
- Pleasantville Road from Round Hill Road to Oakmont Road
- Kerr Road and Delp Road
Due to the road closures at Asbury Road from Route 22 to Edwards Lane, bus service may not be provided for the following:
- C. Milton Wright High School – Bus #509
- Southampton Middle School – Bus #147
- Churchville Elementary School - Bus #585
Due to road closures at Pleasantville Road from Round Hill Road to Oakmont Road, bus service may not be provided for students residing on these roads or in communities in the impacted area for the following:
- Fallston High School
- Fallston Middle School
- Youth’s Benefit Elementary School
Due to road closures at Kerr Road and Delp Road, bus service may not be provided for the following:
- North Harford High and Middle School - Bus #167
- North Harford Elementary School - Bus #522
