"I can't be there to hold my baby and to comfort her, but I know that the God that we believe in, and the God that Rachel believed in, was there holding her and comforting her and he never left her," Patty Morin said at the celebration of life.

“We often joked about being in our 80s and living in the same old folks’ home. We imagined the mischief we would cause and laugh at how odd people would find our bond, the same bond we had shared since childhood,” one of Morin’s brothers said in a recording played at the service. “We were, and always will be, best friends.”

Morin's sister Rebekah talked about the mom of five and her devotion to her kids.

“The thing that always stood out for me was how much she loved her kids and would do anything for them,” she said. “She got such a kick out of them, and they were a riot always, and she would laugh over the things they would do.”

DNA evidence pulled from the Morin crime scene matched DNA found at the scene of a March 2023 home invasion and sexual assault of a girl in Los Angeles, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said during a news conference Aug. 16. The suspected attacker is described as 20 to 30 years old, about 5'9" tall and weighs 160 pounds, with dark hair and a muscular build.
