BEL AIR, MD (June 26, 2013) – Three restoration and remediation experts from Rainbow International of Northeastern Maryland have earned additional certifications for microbial remediation, crime and trauma scene decontamination, and water damage restoration. Rainbow professionals earning new certifications included Carlos Urgilez (Applied Microbial Remediation), Matt Wheeler (Crime and Trauma Scene Decontamination) and Kevin McShane (Water Damage Restoration).
Rainbow International of Northeastern Maryland Owner, Jay Van Deusen, says, “In order to best serve our clients, it’s critical thatRainbow International’s damage restoration specialists are prepared through meticulous training, hands-on exercises and continued education. When disaster strikes, our customers can trust our team of certified professionals to return their home or business back to its original state. Knowing that we’ve helped someone during a critical time of need is what drives our team.”
Carlos Urgilez (Operations Manager) completed the Council-certified Microbial Remediation Supervisor (CMRS) course covering mold and sewage remediation techniques. This certification ensures individuals are adequately equipped to perform remediation services, while protecting the health and safety of workers and occupants. Urgilez obtained his CMRS certification through American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC). CMRS certifications are accredited by the Council for Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB), a nationally recognized independent accreditation body. ACAC certifications are the only designations in the indoor air quality field to earn CESB accreditation.
Matt Wheeler (Technician) completed the 26-Hour Amdecon Crime and Trauma Scene Decontamination course which teaches the science and operational details needed to make critical remediation and administrative decisions while staying legally compliant. Upon completing the Amdecon course, Wheeler received eight decontamination certifications approved by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) and the Restoration Industry Association (RIA) for continuing education credits.
Kevin McShane (Technician) completed the Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) course. The WRT certification confirms restoration personnel that perform remediation work have a better concept of water damage and its effects as well as techniques for structural drying. This certification gives remediation personnel the background to understand the procedures necessary to deal with water losses, sewer backflows, and contamination such as mold. McShane was presented the WRT certification by the IICRC.
To achieve the above mentioned certifications, the Rainbow International employees attended multiple courses, participated in classroom training, showed efficiency during hands-on exercises and passed qualification exams.
