Red Pump Road House Goes Up in Flames for Training Exercise

Bel Air and Fallston firefighters worked training scenarios Saturday at donated home.

First responders from Bel Air and Fallston lit up a home on Red Pump Road Saturday during a live fire training exercise, officials said.

The house was donated for the purpose of training, according to Rich Gardiner of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.

Crews from Bel Air and the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company ran various scenarios inside the house in the morning for exercises before setting the structure ablaze in the afternoon, Gardiner said.

“Training is an ongoing and essential part of fire fighting,” the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company posted on its Facebook page. “We would like to thank the officers of both fire departments for organizing this training.”

Large volumes of smoke plumed from the house on Red Pump Road and increased as the day went on, according to Gardiner, who said the blaze continued as a free burn.
