Abingdon Road Rage Chase Leads to Charges: Maryland State Police

Police allege an Abingdon man pointed a gun at another motorist on Tollgate Road then followed him onto I-95.

ABINGDON, MD — A 23-year-old Abingdon man is facing charges after he allegedly pointed a gun at a fellow driver on South Tollgate Road at MD 24, Maryland State Police said.

Bradley R. Krueger, of the 3800 block of Easton Court in Abingdon, is charged with first- and second-degree assault as well as reckless endangerment.

At 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, a driver notified authorities that a gray Chevrolet Trailblazer had been driving erratically on South Tollgate Road; and when they were both stopped at the intersection of Tollgate and MD 24, its driver pointed what appeared to be a handgun at him, police said.

The driver was later identified as Krueger, and officials said a black BB gun resembling a semiautomatic handgun was found in his vehicle.

At the intersection, the victim feared for his life and sped away, but the Trailblazer followed, police said. Both drivers got onto Interstate 95 south, where police reported Krueger threw an unknown object that hit the victim's vehicle.

At that point, the victim slowed to a safe distance from the Trailblazer and called police, notifying them of the suspect vehicle's location as troopers responded. Police said that Krueger was arrested when he stopped at a Royal Farms store on Pulaski Highway in Middle River.

Krueger appeared before a court commissioner and was released on his own recognizance, police said.

The victim and Krueger did not know one another, according to Detective Sergeant William McFarland, assistant commander of the JFK Barack for Maryland State Police.

To avoid road range incidents, McFarland advised: "Don't take matters into your own hands." He suggested getting a description of the other vehicle plus a tag number, if possible, and calling #77 or 911.
