Route 924 Study Commissioned by Regional Transportation Board
Federal funding will go toward study of busy road near Bel Air.
Regional transportation officials approved funding this week to study part of MD Route 924 in Abingdon, according to a statement from Harford County government.
The $225,000 grant from the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board will go toward an evaluation of current conditions and potential improvements on Route 924 between MacPhail Road and the I-95/Route 24 interchange, the statement said.

The Harford County Department of Planning and Zoning will conduct the study, considering the following along the 4.5-mile stretch:
- Current operations
- Improvements that are cost-effective, feasible
- Sidewalks and bike lane use
- Integration of Route 924 into surrounding road network
- Ways to enhance relationship with nearby communities
Funding will mainly come from federal sources, according to officials.

“This section of state road is an important piece of our local transportation network, affecting many citizens who live, work, shop and travel in the area,” County Executive Barry Glassman said in a statement.
Glassman added: “Improving the safety and functionality of the MD 924 corridor would benefit our entire community.”
