Doughnut Wall Coming To Austin Built To Unite, Not Divide
It's an upcoming pop-up experience promoting a company's new wares, but so much more: An edible pastry wall we can all get behind.

AUSTIN, TX ā Now this is a wall we can all get behind.
A Facebook event has emerged in Austin giving hope in an uncertain world, yielding joy in the often underrated pleasures of life. According to the announcement, co-working space The Refinery, 612 Brazos St, later this month plans to convert itself into a "Museum of Donuts" complete with an "edible donut wall."
This could be the spiritual salve for which we'll all been waiting. This might be the band-aid to patch ā at least temporarily ā our collective broken heart, the sugary antidote to our flagging spirits.

Ostensibly meant to promote Shop Koho, a new line of merchandise from the Austin food blog A Taste of Koko, the sugary sanctuary will be erected on Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In a city replete with makeshift locales, this is our kind of "pop-up" experience.

The pastry paean won't be limited to a mere doughnut wall but, according to organizers, also will feature an "inflatable donut pool with donut floaties" and a "donut swing." The engineering logistics to this culinary construction is unknown to us, but no matter. We're talking delightful donuts here, and such considerations are immaterial and extraneous to our pastry focus.
This is the wall we need, and organizers note it will be ideally suited for Instagram posterity. Culinary contractors for this planned wall are a veritable who's who of Austin pastry prowess: Bougie's Donuts, Caroline Restaurant, Gourdough's, Hank's, Little Lucy's, Master Donuts and others are expected to be involved in its construction, according to the event website.
"Eat all the donuts from Austin's favorite donut shops while sipping on boozy Chameleon Cold-Brew and Chila 'Orchata iced lattes for the sweetest Sunday ever!" organizers beckon.
Yes, and yes again, many have already replied. At last check, more than 200 people had sent RSVP confirming attendance, with another 2,600 expressing an interest in doing so.
Ticket purchasers will not only get an exclusive first peek of A Taste of Koko's new shop (hashtag #ShopKoko by the way) but will receive a goodie bag filled with the #ShopKoko donut boobie tee, Chameleon Cold-Brew coffee swag and more, according to organizers. !This is going to be the most Instagrammable party of the year in Austin! There will be an interactive Donut-Themed Photo Booth with Oh Happy Day Booth, organizers add.
Oh, be still our artery-clogged hearts.
Yet this sort of life-affirming experience comes with a cost beyond what one normally would spend on a box of doughnuts. Fulfilling a lifelong fantasy doesn't come cheap, don't you know. Tickets for the event are priced at $35 in advance and $40 at the door.
But how does one put a price on a wall meant to unite, rather than divide? Living in a world made of doughnuts at least for a few fleeting moments, inhabiting a world crafted with dough in a vision about which many of us have dreamed but never dared thought possible: Priceless.
