Save A Life Tour Educates Harford Students on Distracted Driving Risks
Using fact-based lectures and interactive simulations students get a firsthand look at the potential consequences of poor driving decisions.

The Save A Life Tour, a comprehensive safe driving awareness program, was presented to local schools including The John Carroll School, Havre de Grace Middle/High School, and Aberdeen High School during the last week of September. Designed to inform, educate, and demonstrate potentially deadly consequences resulting from distracted and impaired driving, the program was offered by Harford County Department of Community Services Office of Drug Control Policy in partnership with Matrix Entertainment.
The program takes a unique and interactive approach to educating students on the dangers of reckless driving. A combination of fact-based lectures and interactive simulations gives students a firsthand look at the potential consequences of poor driving decisions.
As part of its commitment to promoting safe driving habits among young drivers, the Save A Life Tour focuses on key areas of driving behavior that contribute to accidents and fatalities on the road. Particularly awareness about the negative impact of driving under the influence of substances in addition to demonstrating the risks associated with cell phone use and passenger distractions while driving.

"The Save A Life Tour delivers an impactful message to young drivers about the consequences of distracted and impaired driving," County Executive Bob Cassilly said. “Interactive simulators allow students to gain hands-on experience that reinforces the dangers of risky behavior behind the wheel.”
Participants gained a heightened awareness of their responsibilities as drivers and the tools to make better decisions.
