School Secretary Charged in Alleged Theft Scheme: Bel Air Police

Police said a recently retired Homestead-Wakefield Elementary School secretary is suspected of stealing more than $100,000.

A retired secretary at Homestead-Wakefield Elementary has been indicted on theft charges related to taking funds from the school, according to the Bel Air Police Department.

Sandra Lee Connor, of Aberdeen, was a secretary for the school system for 17 and a half years, according to Harford County Public Schools spokeswoman Jillian Lader.

Authorities said Connor retired in May, the month they began investigating her.

She was indicted on Thursday, Aug. 27, on these charges, according to the Bel Air Police Department:

  • Theft more than $500
  • Theft scheme more than $500
  • Theft more than $100,000
  • Theft scheme more than $100,000

The allegations of theft were connected to check fraud, according to Det. Sgt. Jim Lockard of the Bel Air Police Department.

Connor was arrested and held on $25,000 bond, police reported.
