School Walkouts In Bel Air: Prayer Service, Main Street Protest
Students in Harford County walked out of classes on Wednesday, March 14, to make statements about guns and violence in schools.

BEL AIR, MD — More than 100 students in Bel Air took part in a school walkout Wednesday, from a prayer service at John Carroll's stadium to an after-school demonstration on Main Street to a rally for gun reform at Harford Community College. While Harford County Public Schools said that students may face disciplinary action if they left classes, some did anyway.
In walkout events planned across the country, participating students left their classrooms for 17 minutes – one minute for each life taken in the Feb. 14 shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.
Students at C. Milton Wright walked out of class and were 120 people strong, according to one, who captured it on video:

At Harford Community College, walkout organizer Nicholas Maivelett said there was a gathering near the student center that centered around policy.
"...we just stated that the issue of gun violence is a public health care crisis that we need to solve," Maivelett told Patch. "And that means Congress needs to act, or we the people will vote them out of office in 2018 and 2020."
