Sentence Handed Down In Bel Air Man's Shooting Death: Official

A Baltimore man has been sentenced in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Corey Samuels that occurred May 30, 2022, in Bel Air.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A 31-year-old Baltimore man has been sentenced in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Corey Samuels that happened May 30, 2022, in Bel Air.

Milton Mondowney III has been sentenced for murder in the first degree and use of a firearm in commission of a felony and crime of violence in Samuels' death.

On May 30 shortly before 5:30 a.m., Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 1904 North Fountain Green Road, apartment 203, in Bel Air for a reported shooting.

Deputies found Samuels dead from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and head. Witness interviews and surveillance from the apartment complex revealed that Mondowney entered the apartment and shot Samuels multiple times.

On Dec. 14, 2022, Mondowney pleaded guilty to murder in the first degree and use of a firearm in commission of a felony and crime of violence. Following victim impact statements made by Samuels’ parents and siblings, Judge Kevin Mahoney sentenced Mondowney to life with all but 40 years suspended for the first-degree murder of Samuels and a concurrent 20 years suspending with all but five years without parole to serve for the use of a firearm in commission of a felony and crime of violence.

Upon completion of those sentences, Mondowney will be subject to five years of supervised probation.

“Senseless acts of violence in our communities will not be tolerated,” said Harford County State’s Attorney Albert J. Peisinger, Jr. “I am very proud of the work that my office and the Sheriff’s Office did to hold Mr. Mondowney accountable for this tragedy in the name of pursuing justice for the victim and his family.”
