Baltimore Woman Killed In Conowingo Road Crash

A Baltimore woman died in a crash on Route 1 Friday; authorities have released the names of the drivers involved in the accident.

(Updated at 6:10 p.m.) HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A Baltimore woman died Friday when she collided with a pickup truck pulling a camper on Conowingo Road/Route 1, according to Maryland State Police. The crash occurred on Conowingo Road in the area of the Deer Creek bridge, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

Renee Fleck, 44, of Baltimore, was driving a Toyota Matrix northbound on US Rt. 1 when for unknown reasons she swerved into the southbound lanes. A Chevrolet pickup driven by Stephen Kresge, 45, of Street, was southbound on Rt. 1 pulling a camper. Kresge took evasive action, but he was unable to avoid colliding with Fleck’s vehicle, state police said.

Fleck, who was the lone occupant of her vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Kresge did not report any injuries.

Although the investigation is continuing, troopers do not believe that alcohol contributed to the collision.

All lanes of Conowingo Road were closed as crews worked to rescue Fleck, who was trapped.
