A fire broke out Thursday in Gunpowder Falls State Park. ATVs, a helicopter and a drone were called in to help firefighters on the ground.

BEL AIR, MD — A forest fire broke out in Gunpowder Falls State Park near the Harford County line Thursday.
The fire was reported around mid-day in the area of the Little Gunpowder River between Harford Road and Belair Road near the Quarry Trail on the Baltimore County side of the Little Gunpowder Falls, according to the responding fire departments.
The fire covered approximately one acre, it was reported, and the wind didn't help firefighters in their battle to contain the blaze. The firefighters in charge at the scene requested fire department ATVs for ground work along with a helicopter and bambi bucket from the Aberdeen Proving Ground to drop water from the air. A drone also was requested for eyes in the sky to help those on the ground.
