Thousands Without Power After Storms In Harford, Baltimore Co.
A severe thunderstorm knocked out power in Harford, Baltimore counties.
More than 3,000 BGE customers were without power Wednesday night after severe storms struck the region. There were more than 1,800 in Harford and more than 1,200 BGE customers in Baltimore County whose power had not been restored as of 6:30 p.m.
Radar detected a severe thunderstorm over Kingsville Wednesday afternoon, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a warning for the area. Parts of Harford and Baltimore counties were under a severe thunderstorm warning until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7. The warning called for 60 mph wind gusts and hail the size of quarters.
During the severe thunderstorm warning period, people were advised to go to an interior room on the lowest floor to stay safe from wind and lightning. Do not drive underneath wooded areas until the threat has passed, as trees and branches may fall, officials said. Roads may become blocked by downed trees, and localized power outages are possible, according to the warning.

A tree fell across lanes on Interstate 95 north past MD 43 during the storms.
More than 5,300 in Baltimore County and more than 1,600 in Harford County have had their power restored since the weather event, BGE reported as of 6:30 p.m.

Around 3:45 p.m., severe thunderstorms were on a line from Bel Air North to Back River and were moving northeast at 30 mph. These areas may be affected: Middle River, Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Riviera Beach, Aberdeen Proving Ground, North Point State Park, Sparrows Point, Back River, Millers Island, Dundalk, Bel Air South, Essex, Rossville, White Marsh, Bowleys Quarters, Riverside, Perryman, Edgewood, Joppatowne and Edgemere.
At 3:30 p.m., a storm was over Kingsville and was heading northeast at 30 mph, officials said. These areas may be affected, according to the warning: Middle River, Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Bel Air South, Bel Air North, Carney, Perry Hall, Rossville, White Marsh, Fallston, Riverside, Hampton, Kingsville, Pleasant Hills, Perryman, Lutherville-Timonium, Edgewood, Joppatowne, Nottingham and Glen Arm.
