Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Harford, Baltimore County

BREAKING: A line of thunderstorms with 60 mph wind gusts has been detected in the area.

A line of thunderstorms with 60 mph wind gusts has prompted a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Baltimore and Harford counties.

The warning is in effect until 4:45 p.m.

Before 4:25 p.m., severe thunderstorms with 60 mph wind gusts were detected near Pleasant Hills, according to the National Weather Service.

After 4 p.m., the National Weather Service said radar detected a line of storms with 60 mph winds from Jarrettsville to Cockeysville, moving east at 35 mph.

During the severe thunderstorm warning period, people should go inside to stay safe from wind and lightning and move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building as a precaution.

Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roads may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecure light objects may become projectiles.

These locations may be impacted: Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Bel Air South, Bel Air North, Fallston, Riverside, Kingsville, Pleasant Hills, Perryman, Edgewood, Joppatowne, Darlington, Fork, Churchville, Carsins, Forest Hill, Abingdon, Hickory and Benson.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 8 p.m.
