Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Harford County

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning, with 60 mph winds possible Thursday in Harford County.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Baltimore and Harford Counties as well as a portion of Baltimore City Thursday evening. The warning is in effect until 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 13.

During the severe thunderstorm warning period, people should go inside to stay safe from wind and lightning.

After 6:20 p.m., the National Weather Service reported that radar showed a line of severe thunderstorms with 60 mph gusts from Pennsylvania to Perry Hall, moving east at 35 mph.

These locations may be impacted, according to the National Weather Service: Baltimore, Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Towson, Bel Air South, Parkville, Bel Air North, Carney, Perry Hall, Rosedale, Rossville, White Marsh, Fallston, Riverside, Hampton, Kingsville, Pleasant Hills, Jarrettsville and Perryman.

Do not drive underneath wooded areas until the threat has passed, as trees and branches may fall. Roads may become blocked by downed trees, and localized power outages are possible, according to the warning.

PREVIOUS WARNING (expired) — There is a severe thunderstorm warning in effect for Bel Air, Fallston and other parts of Harford County Thursday. The warning, which calls for 60 mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail, also applies to parts of Baltimore and Carroll counties.

The National Weather Service issued the severe thunderstorm warning around 5:45 p.m., and it will remain in effect until 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 13.

After radar detected a severe thunderstorm at 5:43 p.m. near Hampstead that was moving east at 40 mph, the agency issued the warning.

During the severe thunderstorm warning period, people should go inside to stay safe from wind and lightning.
