Severe Thunderstorm Watch Impacts 8 Counties + Baltimore City

BREAKING: The National Weather Service reports that severe thunderstorms may be on the horizon in the Baltimore metropolitan area.

BALTIMORE, MD - A severe thunderstorm is in effect for the Baltimore metropolitan area on Tuesday. The National Weather Service issued the watch for several counties and Baltimore City.

A severe thunderstorm watch means that conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms that can produce hail and damaging winds. Specifically, the watch calls for gusts up to 70 mph, frequent lightning and quarter-sized hail.

The severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Baltimore, Carroll, Cecil, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Washington counties as well as Baltimore City are included in the watch area.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for parts of Carroll, Frederick and Washington counties until 4:30 p.m.
