Shadow Cats TNR Strives To Help Animals Across Harford County
Shadow Cats TNR in Harford County Aims to control the community's cat population and place animals in forever homes.
BEL AIR, MD — Shadow Cats TNR, formerly known as Best Friends in Harford County, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping animals in need across the county.
Volunteers with Shadow Cats TNR specialize in controlling the community's cat population through trap-neuter-return where they catch feral cats along with gathering up friendly and semi-friendly cats and kittens to be spayed and neutered. They're then placed with pet owners through their adoption and barn cat programs.
Last year, SCTNR spayed and neutered 1,881 cats and placed 438 of those in indoor forever homes and an additional 232 cats placed in working homes as barn cats.

"Our volunteers and fosters provide cats with the care and safe space they need. Our foster, adoption and barn cat coordinators work tirelessly to place these cats into appropriate homes through our adoption and barn cat programs. SCTNR seeks to educate the public about the importance of spaying/neutering all pets as well as controlling the cat population through community outreach and education," said Jean Salvatore, president of SCTNR.
SCTNR holds a variety of fundraisers to help support its mission. Currently, a Flower Power fundraiser runs through Oct. 15 selling fall flower bulbs and herbs. On Oct. 2, the Vagabond Sandwich Company fundraiser kicks off from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. where a portion of their proceeds will go to SCTNR. Just mention the organization when ordering.
