Sheila Colleen Durst, 66, Of Abingdon
An Abingdon woman who died recently was the first female police officer in the Baltimore Police Department.

Sheila Colleen Durst, 66, of Abingdon, passed away on June 9, 2018, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Owen and Helen (Honce) Spedden.
She grew up in Dundalk and was the first female police officer of Baltimore City.
She loved animals, traveling, laughing and enjoyed trivia.

Ms. Durst is survived by grandsons, Stephen Durst Jr. (Robert Heacock Jr.), Alexander Durst, Tyler Durst, Michael Durst, TJ Durst and Chris Durst. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Spedden.

Visitation was Monday, June 18, from 5 to 7 p.m., and Tuesday, June 19, at McComas Funeral Home, 50 W. Broadway, Bel Air, MD 21014.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 19, at 2 p.m. at McComas Funeral Home, 50 W. Broadway, Bel Air, MD 21014.
