Shooting, Stabbing Happen Within Minutes In Aberdeen

A man was stabbed during a fight and another man was shot during an altercation, both within minutes of each other Tuesday night.

ABERDEEN, MD — Detectives are investigating a stabbing that happened Tuesday night in the 200 block of Mayberry Drive.

Harford County sheriff's deputies received a call about a fight involving knives around 6:13 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 19-year-old man who had been stabbed in his leg. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he was interviewed by detectives, according to the sheriff's office.

Detectives believe that the victim was involved in a fight with people he knew when the fight happened. The victim is expected to survive his injuries, according to authorities.

Shortly after the Aberdeen stabbing around 6:15 p.m., sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a local hospital for a reported shooting victim. Detectives interviewed the 44-year-old man who said he'd been shot in the 1000 block of Plaza Circle in Joppa when he was shot in his lower body by an unknown man during a brief altercation. He has since been released from the hospital.

Detectives believe the shooting and the stabbing are isolated and unrelated, and continue to investigate.
