Journalists and citizens were eager to catch a glimpse of the surveillance balloon, as defense officials tried to hone in on it.

When a runaway blimp escaped from its mooring at Aberdeen Proving Ground, the feds were not the only ones interested in capturing it on its journey.

Military officials advised citizens to call 911 if they spotted the airship, which ultimately landed at 4:25 p.m. near Moreland Township, Pa., the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) reported.
