Solar Energy Scam

Beware of VIVINT Solar canvasing Bel Air neighborhoods

Last night, two representatives of Vivint Solar knocked on our door. My husband and I talked to them on our porch for 5 or 10 minutes.

These men claimed to be working in conjunction with BGE (a lie), to "help BGE meet their renewable energy requirements." They wanted us to sign up for an eligibility survey that would determine whether or not our home would be a good location for solar panels. Basically, Vivint Solar is a solar energy company that wants you to have them install solar panels on your roof, then pay them for them providing the renewable energy.
As soon as anyone claims to be working in conjunction with BGE, I become skeptical, so having taken photos of their ID badges, and with their business card in hand, we told them we would check into it and contact them if we were interested. Once they knew were skeptical, they pulled out the age-old sales line of "the only people who don't sign up for this are those who don't understand it."

This morning, I checked out this website https://www.consumeraffairs.co... with reviews of Vivint Solar, and found that my instincts were correct. Sure there were many positive reviews, but most of those were from people who had just recently had the panels installed, but even those talked about problems with installation. Be sure to read the negative issues, as those tell the real story...issues with installation, service, billing, realization that the savings, if any, were no where near what had been projected.
