Stabbing On Bel Air Middle School Basketball Court Injures 1: PD

There was a stabbing on the basketball court at Bel Air Middle School, according to police.

BEL AIR, MD — A man was stabbed while playing basketball at the courts on the Bel Air Middle School campus over the weekend, according to police. He was treated at Upper Chesapeake for his injury, which was where investigators said they learned of the crime.

A suspect has not been identified as of Monday evening.

Police said that a 22-year-old man who lives in Bel Air was stabbed in the back of his upper left arm while playing basketball at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 23. He was part of a group of young adults playing at the basketball court at 99 Idlewild Street when a dispute escalated and got physical, according to officials.

After stabbing the Bel Air man, authorities said the suspect got into a vehicle and left. There was no description of the vehicle.

Investigators are working on the case, police reported Monday, June 24.

"There is no indication that the incident poses a threat to the security of the Bel Air Middle or surrounding schools," the Bel Air Police Department said in a statement Monday.
